Although the practice is growing, it is not our intention to become too big that we lose touch with our clients. We understand the continuity of service provided in a friendly atmosphere is important to, and appreciated by, our clients.

ReceptionEach department has its own dedicated team of vets, and nurses providing friendly, accessible, convenient services to our clients.

The roots of Avondale Veterinary Group originate from 1921 when Hugh Begg went to vet school before WWI then enlisted underage and finished vet school after the end of the war and set up practice in Wellbrae.  The practice moved to Thomson Street then to Ryeland Street in 1936. Bill Whiteford joined the practice in 1942 and became a partner in 1945 forming Begg & Whiteford.  Hugh Begg junior joined the practice in 1957 and Jim Begg joined in 1964. The Practice moved again to Stonehouse Road in 1969. Bill Whiteford retired in 1983 and the practice was renamed as Begg and Partners in 1993 with Tim Caldwell and Judith Gilbert becoming partners. Jim Begg retired in 1997.  Judith left in 2004 and then Ross Syme and Sally Yuill became partners forming the Avondale Veterinary Group.
