Timothy Caldwell MA VetMB MRCVS
Tim qualified from Cambridge and after working in Rochdale, Doncaster and Layburn, moved to join the practice of Begg & Whiteford in Strathaven in 1991 to pursue his interests in farm animal practice. He became a Partner in 1992. Since 2002 he has been involved primarily in farm and equine practice. Tim is a member of the British Cattle Veterinary Association, a local Veterinary Inspector (LVI), an official veterinary surgeon (OVS) for meat inspection in abattoirs, qualified for export of all domestic species and products. Tim’s recent CPD courses have covered advanced ultrasonography in bovines, herd health planning and mastitis.

Ross Syme BSc (Hons), BVM&S, MRCVS
Ross graduated from Edinburgh Vet School after completing a degree in Biochemistry from Glasgow University. He has worked in general practice in Kilbarchan, Kippen and Crossford. He joined Begg and Partners in 2004 becoming a partner in 2005. Ross is a member of the British Veterinary Association (BVA), British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) and Association of Racecourse Veterinary Surgeons (ARCVS). Ross is the Honorary veterinary surgeon for Horsewatch Scotland. Ross was one of 3 finalists in the annual Animal Health Trust Equestrian Awards ( Petplan-Equine Vet of the year 2011). He was a veterinary examiner for the Worshipful Company of Farriers for 6 years. He is a local veterinary inspector (LVI) and is qualifed to export equines. He has been a racecourse veterinary surgeon at Hamilton Park Racecourse since 2005. Recent CPD courses include StemRegen- stem cell therapy for equine tendons and ligaments and E-PET (equine platelet enhancement therapy).

Sally Yuill BVMS, MRCVS
Sally graduated from Glasgow Vet School. After graduation Sally locumed then worked for 3 years in large animal practice in Derbyshire. Since then she has worked in Strathaven initially as an assistant doing predominantly dairy work and later as a partner where she exclusively does small animal work. She is mainly interested in medicine especially cats and dogs. She is married to a local dairy farmer and has 2 sons. Her hobbies are horse riding and gardening.

Sandy Baird BVMS, MRCVS
Sandy graduated from Glasgow Vet School. After a mixed period in Cumbria, he moved to Surrey to work in equine practice before returning to Scotland to complete a 3 year residency in Equine Orthopaedics at Glasgow University, Weipers Centre in 2005 and moved back into equine practice in Scotland. Since 2007 he has worked as a locum veterinary surgeon in numerous equine practices in the UK gaining further experience in all aspects of equine work such as racehorses, dressage, eventing and home ponies. Sandy’s clinical interests include lameness and surgery. Recent CPD includes advanced equine dentistry. Sandy is married with 2 young children.

Julian Beazley BVM&S,MRCVS
Julian joined the practice in April 2009 as a part time small animal clinician. He qualified from Edinburgh before working in mixed practice around London for 5 years. He then concentrated solely on small animals, moving back to Scotland in 2007 settling in Glasgow with his partner and adorable male tabby cat ‘Ocelot’. He loves cats whilst also having a keen interest in small mammals and exotic pets. He enjoys gardening, property maintenance/DIY, maintaining his old VW golfs, camping, walking and the crazy sport of kite buggying.

Colin Buchan BVMS, MRCVS
Colin graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School and after 2 years of mixed practice returned to Scotland to further his interest in farm work. Having palyed rugby and basketball in his younger days a seried of injuries means he now prefers to shout from the sidelines. Colin’s main interests include cattle foot trimming, the use of interherd and mastitis prevention. He is a local veterinary inspector and a member of the National Association of Cattle foot trimmers, British Cattle Veterinary Association and the Sheep Veterinary Society. Recent CPD course include professional cattle foot trimming, mastitis and managing the health of the periparturient dairy cow.

Anjela Datta BVM&S , MRCVS
Anjela graduated from the University of Edinburgh and has worked exclusively in small animal practice ever since. She worked in West sussex for nearly 2 years before returning home to Scotland as a locum for the PDSA, then joined the Avondale team in 2012. Recent CPD courses include Opthalmology, Emergency Medicine and Cardioresipratory diseases. Her hobbies include playing tennis, rock climbing, cooking and fostering dogs in need.

Kathleen Hennessy BVM&S, MRCVS
Kathleen graduated from Edinburgh University. She has worked in Equine Practice in Lancashire since 2000. She is a member of BEVA, BVA and the ARCVS and is licensed to export equines. Recent CPD courses include equine casualty management and equine stangles. Kathleen is part of the Racecourse Veterinary Surgeons team at Hamilton Park Racecourse. Outside work Kathleen is kept busy with her 2 border terriers ‘Basil’ and ‘Coriander’ and border collie ‘Ben’

Jennifer Oldroyd BVMS, MRCVS
Jennifer graduated from Glasgow Vet School with a commendation and joined Avondale Veterinary Group in November 2011 to pursue her interest in farm animal practice. She is originally from a farming background in Darvel, Ayrshire and is kept busy at home by 2 boxers dogs. Her hobbies include walking, baking and horse riding. |
